Germany's Israel Policy Dead-ended

by Oui Thu Feb 1st, 2024 at 09:30:15 PM EST

No surprise to me ... Berlin living in fantasy a bubble of fantasy land ... Palestinians have lived in occupation and a war zone for far too long.

White House Never Had A Partner for Peace. ❌ ☮️

  • Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected the two-state solution that Germany backs.
  • Accusations against the UN's relief agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA,  are complicating matters even further for Berlin.

  • In defiance of his closest international allies, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has bluntly rejected the possibility of a two-state solution which calls for an independent, democratic Palestinian state to exist alongside Israel.

"I will not compromise over full Israeli security control over the entire area west of the Jordan River -- and this runs contrary to a Palestinian state," Netanyahu posted on X, formerly known as Twitter. He told US President Joe Biden the same in a telephone call.

For the US, Germany and the European Union, the two-state solution is the cornerstone of efforts to bring peace to the region. German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has even called the two-state solution "the only solution."

"Israel will never be able to live in security if terrorism is not overcome. And by the same token, Israel can only enjoy security if the Palestinians also have prospects for the future," Baerbock said in a statement in December.

With 50 years US foreign policy 🇺🇸 experience under his belt ... Joe you are a fraud 😡

The idea of partitioning Palestine into two states as a way of satisfying both Palestinian and Zionist national aspirations is not a new one. It was first proposed at the official level by the Peel Commission of Inquiry in 1937, following the outbreak of the Arab Revolt.

In the course of the 1948 war, the newly born state of Israel enlarged its territory from the 55% proposed by the UN cartographers to 78% of Mandatory Palestine. Jordan captured, and two years later formally annexed, the West Bank, which would have been the heartland of the Palestinian state. The Palestinians were reduced from a nation in search of a state to a refugee problem, and a UN agency was created to cater to their basic needs as refugees. The two-state solution to the Zionist-Palestinian conflict remained in abeyance for the next four decades.

    The two-state solution is dead | Al Jazeera Opinion - 27 May, 2015 |

"It is time to acknowledge that the peace process, as we know it, is dead. There is no longer a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict."

I wrote these words in 2009.

Is anyone paying attention? In recent press conference, US President Barack Obama said he continued to "believe that a two-state solution is absolutely vital" but was aware that a new Israeli government had been formed "that contains some folks who don't necessarily believe in that premise".

"Some folks" is a convenient understatement from the US president. Let's be clear: These are not fringe voices, or a minority of extremists. These are not junior figures, or a handful of uber-hawks. The (under-reported) fact of the matter is that the vast majority of the ministers who make up the cabinet of Israel's 34th government, from the prime minister downwards, don't believe in a two-state solution, don't want a two-state solution, and don't think a two-state solution is going to happen.

No, the U.S. has not been an honest broker and so too the states of the European Union played lip service to the rights of the Palestinian people and backed the policy dictated by the White House ... Palestine exploded on 7 October ... in an ugly fashion with escalation looming.

Germany Announces Decision to Intervene on Israel's Behalf in ICJ Case | DW News |

Joining the growing list of Israel's public supporters, Germany's federal government spokesperson expressed that accusation of genocide against Israel is 'baseless,' and Germany intends to speak as a third party in the main hearing before the UN's top court.

On the same day Israel's legal team took the floor to defend the country against accusations of genocide leveled by South Africa in the International Court of Justice in The Hague, Germany announced it will intervene on Israel's behalf as a third party in the case, as per Steffen Hebestreit, the spokesman for Germany's federal government.

    What's missing?

    Ahh Old Glory!

The fifth visit to the Middle East and Antony Blinken is still talking about Israel's enemies ... not about the terror state made by Bibi Netanyahu and his genocidal regime of Gallant, Smotrich and Ben Gvir. White-washing genocide ...

US secretary of state heads to Egypt for talks

Blinken and crown prince Mohammed bin Salman discussed "regional coordination to achieve an "enduring end" to the crisis in Gaza", according to the state department spokesperson Matthew Miller. [Crisis in Gaza?? What about the root of the Middle East crisis and US perpetual wars on foreign soil]

They also spoke of "the urgent need to reduce regional tensions", Miller said, referring to a surge in attacks across the region that has triggered counterattacks by the United States and its partners. [or was it the other way around?]

Blinken did not answer reporters' questions as he returned to his hotel, says Reuters.

Blinken seeks 'enduring end' to Gaza war in latest Mideast tour

Gaza Strip (Palestinian Territories) (AFP) - US Secretary of State Antony Blinken kicked off Monday a Middle East tour seeking a new truce and "an enduring end" to the Israel-Hamas war, as Gaza saw no let-up in fighting.

    Issued on: 05/02/2024 - 05:47

    • Jordan's King Abdullah II urged donors to maintain support for the agency "to allow it to provide its vital humanitarian services... particularly in light of the tragic humanitarian situation in Gaza", a royal statement said.
    • French Foreign Minister Stephane Sejourne, on his first visit to the region since taking office, urged the resumption of Israeli-Palestinian peace talks "without delay".
    • German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in a phone call told Netanyahu that "only a negotiated two-state solution would open up the prospect of a sustainable solution to the Middle East conflict".

Tensions in US-Saudi ties cloud Blinken visit to Riyadh | Business Insider - 8 June 2023 |

RIYADH: A visit by the US Secretary of State to Saudi Arabia drew little Saudi media coverage on Thursday at a time of soured relations despite a US push to defuse rows that have touched on oil prices, human rights and Riyadh's opening to Iran.

Antony Blinken was the second top US official to visit Washington's closest strategic ally in the Middle East in less than a month, following a May 7 trip by White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan.

However, Blinken's meetings with Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, the kingdom's de facto ruler, and Gulf Cooperation Council foreign ministers were relegated to the inside pages of Al-Watan and Okaz, the two major newspapers in Saudi Arabia.

    Blinken urges Israel-Saudi normalization

Their front pages were devoted to unrelated topics including the arrival of star French football striker Karim Benzema in Jeddah to join the Al Ittihad club.

Blinken and the crown prince, widely known as MbS, had "open, candid" talks for an hour and 40 minutes, a US official said, covering topics including the conflict in neighbouring Yemen, the war in Sudan, Israel, and human rights.

The semi-official English-language daily Arab News covered Blinken's comments in his talks at GCC headquarters, including those touching on Yemen, but did not mention the US diplomatic push for Saudi Arabia and Israel to normalise relations.

Israel `not really aware' about progress of Saudi-US talks on normalisation deal

"We share a commitment to lowering Israeli-Palestinian tensions, maintaining a horizon of hope, and working toward a two-state solution," Blinken said in his speech at the GCC, referring to Palestinians' quest for statehood in territory occupied by Israel since the 1967 Middle East war.

"And we're also collaborating with countries in the region to widen and deepen the normalisation of relations with Israel."

Saudi Arabia, a Middle East powerhouse and home to Islam's two holiest shrines, has resisted heavy US pressure to end generations-old non-recognition of Israel as have Gulf Arab neighbours the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

Saudi crown prince, Blinken had 'candid' talks in Jeddah: US official

Riyadh says Palestinian statehood goals should be addressed first before normalisation with Israel. Saudi Arabia went the other way in April in restoring ties with Iran, its key regional rival and Israel's arch-enemy, in a Chinese-brokered deal.

    No 'gift'

Aziz Alghashian, a Saudi analyst specialising in Gulf-Israel ties, said Riyadh would not budge on normalisation for reasons including Israel's hardline nationalist-religious government and displeasure with US President Joe Biden's administration.

"This is not the American administration that Saudis would want to gift a Saudi-Israeli normalisation to," Alghashian said.

"It's going to be a massive achievement, it's going to be under an American umbrella, and they don't want the Biden administration to take any credit for that," he said.

Saudi Arabia to Normalize With Israel, Palestinian Authority to Get Billion-Dollar Buyoff | Tikun Olam |

PA kills Palestinian national aspirations in exchange for a rich payday

US officials are currently in Saudi Arabia meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Palestinian Authority officials putting the final touches on a normalization agreement with Israel.  The Saudis need Palestinian approval of the deal as "cover" to protect its reputation among its own citizens and other Muslim states:

President Joe Biden travels to Saudi Arabia to meet with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman

... As home to two of the most important holy sites in Islam, Saudi Arabia is looking to secure a meaningful concession from Israel to fend off criticism from rivals in Iran and Turkey looking to accuse the kingdom of quashing Palestinian dreams of an independent state. The Palestinian issue also remains important for activists in Saudi Arabia and around the world

Other Arab states which normalized have faced protests and even violence in response to such efforts.  This occurred in Libya, where the foreign minister was sacked and forced into exile after meeting with her Israeli counterpart, who urged her country to normalize relations.

    My comment @TikunOlam ...

Borders - Sovereignty- UNSC Resolutions ...

At this moment a case of Israeli war crimes in Gaza and West Bank at the ICC in The Hague ... British prosecutor Karim Khan refuses to advance the investigation ... however another case is pending at the highest Court of International Justice (ICJ) in The Hague .. would be problematic for world's leading "democracies".

So Trump-Kushner gave the Golan Heights to Israel ... total madness and illegal ... Donald got his very own illegal outpost. The World community stayed silent.

Referring to the telephone conversation held between His Majesty King Mohammed VI ... and His Excellency President Donald Trump, on 10 December 2020, and to the historic : statements issued on the same day by them, and by His Excellency Prime Minister Benjamin : Netanyahu of the State of Israel, announcing the opening of a new era in the relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the State of Israel.

... the United States gifted the Western Sahara to Morocco.

So it's the turn of Joe Biden to gift the Palestinian Occupied Territories to Israel. And the World stayed silent. Trust of the global community in leadership of the U.S. ⁉️

Ready for the Rules Based Order (RBO) of the Empire.

The KSA will obtain the same Nuclear umbrella as Israel has from the U.S. ... a blank cheque to attack Iran when either nation feels "threatened". Demolish the Islamic State of Iran ... and Israel is safe. Enduring Wars.
