Netanyahu: IDF to Expel 1.5-million Gazans in Rafah; Ground invasion to start within two weeks | Tikun Olam |

Earlier today, Bibi Netanyahu issued a directive to his generals to prepare a plan to expel the 1.5-million Gazans taking shelter in Rafah, after they were driven from their homes in northern and central Gaza.  That is over half of Gaza's total population and five times the number of inhabitants before the war.  Of them, 600,000 are children.  He warned a ground invasion was imminent, within the next two weeks.

The IDF will repeat the "magic" in performed in northern Gaza: demand they leave, and poof-they disappear! It's like demanding that a paraplegic get up from his wheelchair and walk.  If not, you'll put a bullet in his head.

Amnesty International's secretary general tweeted:

Evacuation?? BUT WHERE?  There is nowhere to go to. @amnesty
is reiterating that Palestinians in Gaza are at grave risk of genocide. The international community has an obligation to act to prevent genocide.

Netanyahu uses a euphemism, "evacuation," to describe the operation.  But there can be no evacuation, nor will the IDF conduct one.  It did not do so in northern Gaza during early fighting there.  It simply entered and destroyed the place. Residents had to flee and many were murdered as they traveled south to take refuge there.

I fear that the IDF will do the same in Rafah.  It will begin razing the place and leave any Palestinians there to fend for themselves. Many thousands of civilians will die as a result.

Israel's Channel 12 reports that the attack will begin in two weeks. During his visit, Netanyahu also informed Blinken of the plans.  The secretary of state can't have been too happen, considering he was trying to negotiate a ceasefire.  It makes Blinken and Biden look like fools. They're being played by Bibi.

[Intrusion Software] Pegasus as a case study of evolving ties between the UAE and Israel | 9 June 2022 |

Concerns over the deployment of Pegasus, a sophisticated form of spyware developed by the NSO Group, an Israel-based and Israeli-owned technology company, burst into the mainstream media and political discourse in 2021 with the publication of the Pegasus Project, an investigative initiative involving a global consortium of journalists, in July, and the subsequent release, in October, of a high court ruling in the United Kingdom that the Ruler of Dubai had used Pegasus to hack the mobile phone of his ex-wife [Princess Haya bint Al Hussein, daughter of King Hussein of Jordan]. In both cases - the Pegasus Papers and the High Court judgement - the United Arab Emirates (UAE) figured prominently as one of the most active users of the controversial spyware.

Analyzing the trajectory of Pegasus in the UAE offers a case-study in how relations with Israel evolved over the past decade and reached the point where close security coordination was supplemented, in August 2020 and the Abraham Accord the following month, by the normalization of political relationships between the two countries.

How Trump advanced Arab-Israeli peace but fueled Palestinian rage | WaPo - 1 day ago |

The Abraham Accords, clinched in 2020 but now undermined by the war in Gaza, show how Trump might manage the Middle East crisis if voters return him to power

Donald Trump welcomed the Israeli ambassador to his glass-plated office on the 25th floor of Trump Tower and led off with a lofty question.

"So," Trump asked, about a week after his upset victory in 2016, "you think we can make peace?"

The ambassador, Ron Dermer, answered with a question of his own: "With whom?"

To Trump, who a former adviser said was enamored with the idea of winning the Nobel Peace Prize, his meaning was clear. He was referring to the Palestinians, locked in a decades-long conflict with Israel over land and statehood whose resolution he thought would earn him international acclaim.

Dermer was blunt. "No," he told the president-elect. "But we can make peace with several Arab states."

No Democrats, it wasn't Russia or Putin that moved the dial to a surprise win of Trump over Hillary 'Deplorables' Rodham Clinton.

It makes a mockery of all of Israel's promises.

It makes a mockery of the founding of the Jewish State of Israel ... war does not security make. During eight Obama-Biden years the possibility of a two-state solution ended ... the ultra-religious zealous Zionists make any peace option farfetched and impossible. Some years ago the Kahanists returned and taken off the terrorism list in May 2022. Before establishing Kach in Israel, Kahane founded the Jewish Defense League (JDL) in the US.

I am ashamed for the majority opinion of present generation in "leadership" roles in Europe.

Rutte Punished by Appeals Court on delivery F-35 Spare Parts to Israel due to risk acts of genocide.

ICJ ruling making a difference ...

Dutch State appeals against ban on export of F-35 parts to Israel

Will move to the Highest Dutch Court: Council of State

Fu*king moron Mark Rutte of VVD party on Green Energy transition, human rights and war crimes on Palestinian Territory delays policy and decisions until all chance for appeal have run out. What an a$$hole ... next career stop SG of NATO, successor to Norwegian Stoltenberg. Working at it for a number of years ... immoral fellow.

Court of Appeal: The Netherlands must stop exports of F-35 parts to Israel

The Dutch government must stop the export of F-35 fighter jet parts to Israel within seven days. This is determined by the Court of Appeal in The Hague. The ruling is in accordance with the demands of Oxfam Novib, PAX and The Rights Forum.

A fantastic victory, justice prevails.' This is how director Gerard Jonkman of The Rights Forum describes the ruling of the Court of Appeal in The Hague. On Monday, it was decided on appeal that the Netherlands must stop the export of parts for F-35 fighter planes to Israel within seven days, as demanded by Oxfam Novib, PAX and The Rights Forum. The judge ruled in favor of the organizations on all points.

Violation of humanitarian law

The Netherlands supplies parts of F-35s to a number of countries, including Israel, from the European F-35 distribution center in Woensdrecht. In 2016, the State granted a general license for this export.

The three organizations argue that Israel violates humanitarian law by deploying the F-35s in its offensive in the Gaza Strip that began on October 7, 2023. On this basis, they demanded in summary proceedings last November that the export of the parts to Israel be stopped. The permit should be revoked.

Minister Liesje Schreinemacher for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation (VVD) had incorrectly ruled that the permit could be maintained, despite warnings from lawyers at her ministry that the F-35s indeed 'possibly commit serious violations of humanitarian law of war'. In her assessment, the minister took into account that withdrawal of the permit would be harmful to the relationship with Israel and the US, as well as to the Dutch economy.

Security is a normal task of capitol police in The Hague, seat of Government, embassies and Carnegie Peace Palace with ICJ and on northside the ICC. The Dutch government says it will appeal a court ruling to stop exports of warplane spare parts to Israel.

The announcement came hours after Dutch judges upheld an appeal by human rights organisations. They argued that helping to maintain the F-35 stealth jets contributed to Israel's violations of international law.

The parts are American-owned, but stored in Dutch warehouses ready for shipping.

King Abdullah II of Jordan: 'We Cannot Afford An Israeli Attack on Rafah' | White House Press Briefing |

Jordan King Abdullah urges lasting Gaza ceasefire in talks with Biden | Arab News |

Jordan's King Abdullah II appealed for a full ceasefire to end the war in Gaza after talks with Joe Biden, striking a discordant note with the US president who is seeking a shorter six-week pause to allow Israel time to defeat Hamas.

Speaking at the White House with Abdullah by his side, Biden said civilians in the southern city of Rafah must be protected as Israel considers a ground incursion, while the Jordanian warned against any offensive at all.

Biden, 81, said that the United States was working to negotiate a pause in fighting of least six weeks in the Gaza strip as part of a wider deal that would also involve the release of hostages.

"We need a lasting ceasefire now. This war must end," said the Jordanian monarch, who has repeatedly pushed for a full truce to end the conflict that started when Hamas attacked Israel on October 7.

In his first face-to-face meeting with Biden since the attack, Abdullah said the world "cannot afford an Israeli attack" on Rafah.

"It is certain to produce another humanitarian catastrophe. We cannot stand by and let this continue."

The United States has consistently refused to call for a full ceasefire, saying that it backs Israel's drive to defeat Hamas, and calling for shorter pauses with hostage deals instead.

However Biden has also started to take a harder line with key US ally Israel, saying last week that said Israel's response in the Gaza Strip had been "over the top."

Flanked by US and Jordanian flags, Biden and the king had earlier embraced as they met on the front steps of the White House for their first face-to-face talks since the October 7 attacks.

They were accompanied by First Lady Jill Biden, Queen Rania and Jordanian Crown Prince Hussein.

50 years of occupation, 50 years of impunity | A EuroMed Rights briefing - 2 June 2017 |

The 5th of June 2017 marks 50 years since the beginning of Israel's occupation of the Palestinian Territory. Israelis and Palestinians now live a reality where, under a single regime, one group is privileged while the other is deprived of its basic human rights. For 50 years, Israel has administered a pervasive system of control over Palestinians in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT), while denying them their right to self-determination and controlling virtually all aspects of their life without giving them any say. The European Union (EU) has a crucial and urgent role to play to counter these developments and help put an end to the occupation.

[...]

In 2017, the Israeli government has advanced a series of increasingly brazen steps to further entrench the occupation, massively expanding its settlements and transferring its population into the West Bank, while approving thousands of new housing units and even its first officially announced new settlement in decades. This step followed the enactment by the Knesset in February 2017 of the "Regularisation Law" which retroactively "legalises" settlement outposts built on privately owned Palestinian land in violation even of Israel's own law.

Moreover, Israel's Housing Minister has recently indicated that the government will advance some 15,000 new housing units in East Jerusalem around the date of the anniversary. These moves represent dangerous steps towards the de facto annexation of more occupied territory in the West Bank, which members of the government are openly promoting.
