Flour Massacre: Jewish State Murders 112 Gazans

At least 112 Palestinians were killed after waiting for much-needed aid in Gaza

Flour massacre: How Gaza food killings unfolded, and Israel's story changed | Al Jazeera |

The incident unfolded at about 04:30 local time (02:30 GMT) on Thursday, when people congregated at Harun al-Rashid Street in Gaza, where aid trucks carrying flour were believed to be on the way.

A convoy of aid trucks passed through the checkpoint, heading north, as people started gathering in large groups. According to the Israeli military, a convoy of 31 trucks entered Gaza but nearly 20 entered the north on Monday and Tuesday.

As people gathered in large groups waiting for much-needed aid, they were shot at by all kinds of military equipment, Al Jazeera's Hani Mahmoud, reported from Rafah. According to a report by the Associated Press, people pulled boxes of flour and canned goods off the trucks.

After the first round of shooting stopped, people returned to the trucks, only for the soldiers to open fire once more.

"After opening fire, Israeli tanks advanced and ran over many of the dead and injured bodies," Al Jazeera's Ismail al-Ghoul said, reporting from the scene.

What did Israel say?

The Israeli military said the trucks were managed by private contractors as part of an aid operation overseen by them for the past four nights.

But the Israeli version of events changed over the course of the day.

Reporting from occupied East Jerusalem, Al Jazeera's Bernard Smith said the Israeli military "initially tried to pin the blame on the crowd", saying that dozens were hurt as a consequence of being crushed and trampled in a stampede when aid trucks arrived.

BIG FAIL WHEN HASBARA FALLS SHORT

Numerous European leaders struggled to get a Photo-Op opportunity next to Netanyahu and/or Herzog to guarantee their country would not got in the way to demand a ceasefire, negotiations, peace talks or a Palestinian independent State ... holy Moses ... that is absolutely a no-go for the Zionist goal of Smotrich and Ben Gvir ... the very welcome partners of Netanyahu, Gallant and Bennett in the Palestinian slaughter of Nakba 2.0. Clearing obstacles for re-occupation of Gaza as the concentration camp option back-fired badly on 7th October. Every setback has its advantage. With backing of the White House through the decades, Israel has impunity to do what it pleases ... not what is necessary for its security. Only peace with its neighbours would be the best guarantee ... that topic is off the table ... no partner for peace. Waiting for Trump II to seal the fate of the Palestinian people in Greater Israel - From the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea and G*D's gas fields meant for the chosen people, promised over 5,000 years ago.

I am shocked by the mainstream media blithely repeating Israeli military narrative ...

The only places I have found correct reporting on this so far have been Israeli newspapers and  here on X.

George Bush in his first term based his ME policy on a promise for a two-state solution by 2005 (one year after the next election). In his road map towards ME peace he allowed Sharon to destroy parts of the West Bank, get rid of PLO leader and terrorist Arafat, build the security wall and fence to partition the occupied Palestinian territory, cede the Jordan valley to Israeli settlers and pull settlements out of the Gaza strip. Bush promised Sharon the Israelis could keep the land where the large settlements near Jerusalem were build. All this without any negotiation with the Palestinian leadership. As a result, the US and Israel got a Hamas victory in the presidential election in Gaza. The democratic result was denounced and the US declared Hamas and Gaza a enemy and terror entity. In the summer of 2006, PM Olmert was supported by extra arms shipments and the bombing of South Lebanon and the structute of Lebanese infrastructure.

Black Thursday: Israel's Great Flour Massacre in Gaza kills over 100 Civilians, wounds Hundreds | I formed Comment |

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reports on the Great Flour Massacre committed by the Israeli army on Black Thursday, February 29, 2024 in the south of Occupied Gaza City at Dawar al-Nabulsi, Rasheed Street.

OCHA says that the Gaza Ministry of Health "reported that 104 Palestinians have been killed and 760 were injured in the early morning hours of 29 February on Al Rashid Road southwest of Gaza city, warning that the actual death toll is likely to be higher as medical teams are struggling to handle the situation with limited critical care resources.

[...]

The Israeli newspaper Arab48 reports that on Thursday evening the death toll rose to 112 and the number of injured was confirmed to be at least 760. It says that the Ministry of Health was reporting late Thursday that large numbers of the wounded had still not been moved to hospital. Some of the dead were taken to the al-Shifa Medical Complex, which has been destroyed as a functioning hospital by the Israeli army, in one of its many war crimes.

The Israeli Air Force on Thursday also dropped bombs on several neighborhoods in the Strip, and Israeli artillery pieces fired at residential complexes in Khan Younis.

Eyewitnesses interviewed on Arab satellite channels maintain that the Israeli army sniped at them and bombarded them with no provocation and in "cold blood."

The equivalent of at least 500 truck loads are needed daily! One C-130 cargo delivers two truck loads of aid max.

Analysis: US aid airdrops reflect fundamental failure

Airdrops are a last resort, but the decision to drop aid into Gaza by the US is even more significant than for other countries.

Department Press Briefing - February 29, 2024, 29 Feb
MILLER: Good afternoon, everyone. Let me start by addressing the tragic incident in northern Gaza today, where more than 100 Palestinians are reported to have been killed and many more injured.

I, first of all, want to express the United States' deepest condolences to the families of those who died. Far too many innocent Palestinians have been killed over the course of this conflict, not just today, but over the past nearly five months. And when you think about today's tragedy, it is especially heartbreaking to consider how many of those families affected will be burying loved ones not for the first time. In fact, I'm sure that many of those affected have buried multiple loved ones over—since this conflict began.

Red Crescent: Food supplies at al-Amal Hospital enough for only one more week
As Israeli forces continue to besiege al-Amal Hospital in Khan Younis for the 42nd consecutive day, the Palestine Red Crescent Society says food supplies are sufficient only for one more week. The available drinking water is enough for three more days, it said on Sunday.

"Continuous shelling and gunfire around the hospital or directly targeting it endanger the safety of patients and medical teams, making it difficult for medical and nursing teams to move between hospital floors to monitor patient conditions," the PRCS said.

The 'Flour massacre' is a precursor to Israel's 'day after' in Gaza | Mondoweiss |

The massacre of the hungry Palestinians should be understood as a harbinger of Israel's "day after" plan for Gaza and all of Palestine - permanent military occupation.

The politics of unleashing genocide under the watching eyes of the world are complicated. While Israel has the firepower to kill just everybody in Gaza, they must find a way to "criminalize" their targets. When they suspect that a resistance fighter hides, or just lives, in a building, that serves as a justification to destroy the whole building, and sometimes the buildings around it too. Being "the startup nation," Israel's genocide army has even industrialized the process of criminalizing civilian targets using artificial intelligence.

But even with the indiscriminate and bloody way the Israeli onslaught has been conducted, the massacre of the hungry bread-seekers on Al-Rasheed Street in Gaza last Thursday was different. Israel did not even claim that its troops were attacked or that there were resistance fighters anywhere around. This massacre happened as Israel was claiming "to take care" of the humanitarian needs of the Palestinian population. And rather than an isolated tragic incident, the "Flour Massacre," as it has come to be called, can actually be understood as a harbinger of the new order that Israel is trying to impose on Gaza's people after its planned, yet so far elusive, elimination of Hamas. It was a reflection of Israel's "day after" plan for Gaza and all of Palestine - permanent military occupation.

Israeli manufactured hunger and chaos

Israel's current operation in Gaza is multifaceted and extends way beyond just the daily barrage of deadly bombardments from the sky and destruction being carried out by ground forces. Israel is also manufacturing hunger and chaos throughout Gaza.

First, the hunger. Until now, Israel has intentionally minimized the amount of humanitarian aid that enters Gaza. The main obstacles are obstructive Israeli "inspections" of all the supplies that enter, either from Egypt through the Rafah crossing or directly from Karm Abu-Salem. In addition, the army and the police have intentionally allowed extreme right-wing thugs to obstruct the movement in the inspection sites and the crossings, each arguing that it is the other's responsibility to keep order there.

On February 22, Kan, the official Israeli broadcasting service, reported that, due to the disruption by protesters, no aid trucks could enter Gaza that day. When the very limited aid finally enters Gaza, it faces destroyed roads and might still be shot at by the Israeli army.

Then the chaos. Israel is waging an attrition war against all humanitarian organizations that try to alleviate the suffering of the people of Gaza. Many aid workers have been martyred by Israeli attacks. A month ago, OCHA, the United Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, reported that 337 health workers and 145 UN staff have been killed - and the killing is continuing uninterrupted.

Jewish-Palestinian group organising Gaza aid convoy to border crossing | Al Jazeera |

"Standing Together" is organising a convoy of cars from Tel Aviv, Yafa and Haifa to Karem Abu Salem (Kerem Shalom) border crossing to bring humanitarian aid to Gaza.

The Jewish-Palestinian social justice group says, "The Israeli government does not allow sufficient basic humanitarian aid to get to the hungry millions in Gaza, and when a little aid does enter, battalions of settlers block it. We are not standing by anymore."

"This coming Thursday, we are all mobilising to demand an end to starvation in Gaza," the group says.

Translation:
"Withholding basic humanitarian aid from millions of people, children, the elderly and the sick in Gaza, serves no one. It does not bring security; it only increases hatred and calls for revenge and also starves the Israeli abductees who are dying in captivity."

Qatar-US partnership has helped face regional, international challenges: Prime minister

Secretary Antony J. Blinken And Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani Before Their Meeting

SECRETARY BLINKEN:  Good morning, everyone.  It is, as always, a pleasure to receive the prime minister here at the State Department in Washington.

..... And our own strategic relationship has only grown stronger over the last few years.  We'll be talking about that.

But of course, most immediate and most urgent on our minds and in our focus is the situation in Gaza.  And here we have an opportunity for an immediate ceasefire that can bring hostages home, that can dramatically increase the amount of humanitarian assistance getting into Palestinians who so desperately need it, and can also set the conditions for an enduring resolution.  And it is on Hamas to make decisions about whether it is prepared to engage in that ceasefire.  But throughout - including the original ceasefire that we were able to achieve last year that brought hostages home and created a week's quiet, humanitarian assistance doubling during that time - Qatar played, along with Egypt, a critical role in getting us to that point.  And it continues to do so now, and I'm grateful for that on behalf of the United States.

It's also urgent irrespective of a ceasefire to dramatically increase the humanitarian assistance that's getting to people inside of Gaza.  The situation for children, for women, for men who are caught in this crossfire of Hamas's making inside of Gaza is unacceptable and unsustainable.  Israel has to maximize every possible means, every possible method of getting assistance to people who need it.  The United States will continue to strongly support those efforts, along with many other countries around the world.  But it requires more crossings, it requires more aid getting in, and once that aid is in, it requires making sure it can get to the people who need it.  So we will continue to press that every single day, because the situation as it stands is simply unacceptable.
