Netanyahu says Israel will launch Rafah invasion without US support | MEE |

Biden Confronts Netanyahu .. Playtime Over

Damn ... could have done this months sooner 🔥 🔥 🔥

In other words, cut the shit, get it done, end it. Now.  It has only taken Biden six months and 33,000 dead to reach this point-one he could have reached months and tens of thousands of dead, ago.  But at least he has reached it.  It's always dangerous to predict anything constructive when it comes to Israeli military conduct...but I believe this is the beginning of the end of the war.

Netanyahu can puff out his chest and proclaim defiantly that Israel will pursue its strategy to the end with or without America.  But the truth is that the US does not speak alone.  It speaks on behalf of much of Europe and other western democracies.  Even if it does not do so explicitly, most of them look to us on such issues.

Israeli capitulation exposes the lie behind Biden's Gaza policy | Mondoweiss |

For months the Biden administration has insisted there's little it can do to impact Israel's genocidal assault on Gaza. The events of the last 24 hours have shown that this is a lie.

Franklin Foer's book details conversations between Biden and Netanyahu that occurred during Israel's 2021 assault on Gaza.

Biden "held his tongue" after Israel bombed a 12-story building that served as a home base for journalists in Gaza City, and the attacks continued. However, later in the campaign, Biden instructed the Prime Minister to wrap things up. Netanyahu insisted he needed more time to bomb, but Biden reportedly told him, "Hey, man, we are out of runway here. It's over."

Netanyahu "begrudgingly" agreed to a ceasefire days later.

Again, none of this is especially surprising. However, for months the Biden administration has insisted there's very little it can do to alter policy in the region and acted as though Israel's policy decisions are unconnected to the United States, the country that gives them more than $4 billion a year in military aid.

This narrative is consistently pushed during press briefings.

Here's a typical example from February 27, in which State Department spokesman Matthew Miller was asked about the tools it has to influence Israel.

"So one thing I will say about that that people often tend to forget is that Israel, like other countries in the region, is a sovereign country that makes its own decisions," claimed Miller. "The United States does not dictate to Israel what it must do, just as we don't dictate to any country what it must do."

Miller made a similar statement the following month, when he was asked about Israel invading Rafah.

"We can't dictate to them," he told reporters.

The Legacy of Golda Meir Is More Alive Than Ever by Gideon Levy | Haaretz Opinion by Gideon Levy - 23 Sept 2012 |

The voice of the woman who was the embodiment of Israeli arrogance emanates from more throats now than it has for a long time.

Golda Meir is long gone, and so is Moshe Dayan. Generals no longer park their Plymouth Valiants on the sidewalk outside Eli Ronen's grill at Kikar Malkhei Yisrael in Tel Aviv. They no longer eat "on the house," as befits their exalted station, and cigar smoke no longer obscures their photographs on the eatery's walls. Generals have become nameless soldiers, but, nevertheless, nothing has changed since that terrible war, the Yom Kippur War, that endless source of lamentation and also heroic stories.

Born in Ukraine, moved to Palestine in 1921.

Excellent read ...

'We Can Never Forgive the Arabs for Making Us Kill Children' - CBS' Schieffer Quotes Golda Meir | Haaretz - 28 July 2014 |

CBS' host of Face the Nation ended his show's broadcast with a monologue about the 'world gone mad,' in which he quoted Golda Meir and Will Durant.

"BOB SCHIEFFER: Trying to understand the news of this terrible summer, it is hard to come away with any feeling but that we are in the midst of a world gone mad.

On one side of the world, an ego-driven Russian leader seems to yearn for the time of the czars, when rulers started wars on a whim or a perceived insult and if people died, so be it.

In the Middle East, the Palestinian people find themselves in the grip of a terrorist group that has embarked on a strategy to get its own children killed in order to build sympathy for its cause - a strategy that might actually be working, at least in some quarters.

Last week, I found a quote of many years ago by Golda Meir, one of Israel's early leaders, which might have been said yesterday.

"We can forgive the Arabs for killing our children," she said. "But we can never forgive them for forcing us to kill their children."

In a world gone mad, what is to be learned? Perhaps we should start by remembering what historian Will Durant once said:

"Barbarism, like the jungle, does not die out, but only retreats behind the barriers that civilization has thrown up against it, and waits there always to reclaim that to which civilization has temporarily laid claim."

A Venerable Jewish Voice for Peace | Democracy Now - 31 July 2014 |

"If you don't want to kill Palestinians, if that's what pains you so much, you don't have to kill them. You can give them their rights, and you can end the occupation. And to put the blame for the occupation and for the killing of innocents that we are seeing in Gaza now on the Palestinians--why? Because they want a state of their own? They want what Jews wanted and achieved?"

As the United States resupplies Israel with ammunition, more than 250 children in Gaza have been killed. Instead of providing weapons, the U.S. and the rest of the world should pressure Israel to stop the slaughter.

Biden and Netanyahu 30 minute call about WCK aid workers or about Israel's strike on Iranian consulate in Damascus?

The Iraqi militia strike on naval base in Eilat scarcely caused property damage, nor any injuries. Would not be reason for heavy retaliatory strike ... getting the U.S. involved to cut the head off the serpent of terror.

Iran to US: Step Aside or Risk Getting Hit

In a written message to Washington, Iran "warned the US not to get dragged into Netanyahu's trap," Mohammad Jamshidi, the Iranian president's deputy chief of staff for political affairs, wrote on X, referring to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The US should "step aside so that you don't get hit."

The senior Biden administration official pointed out that, as of Friday, neither government had precise information on when or how Iran intended to retaliate.

Israeli media have recently revealed that, in fear of Iranian retaliation, the Israeli occupation government has shut down 28 of its legations worldwide. Seven Israeli embassies were also evacuated, including those in Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, and Turkey.

The terrorist identified as Mohammed Zakir known by his nom de guerre Ramesh, was captured in the Mahdasht district of Karaj City

Iranian security forces have managed to identify and arrest a high-profile member of the Takfiri Daesh terrorist group in the country's central province of Alborz near the capital Tehran.

Police spokesman General Saeed Montazer-al-Mahdi said on Saturday that the terrorist, identified as Mohammed Zakir but better known by the alias Ramesh, was captured in the Mahdasht district of Karaj City following complicated operations by the anti-terrorism division of the Islamic Republic of Iran Police Intelligence Organization (SAFA), and a tip-off from a member of the public.

He added that two other terrorists were arrested along with the high-profile Daesh member. They were identified in two different locations and were arrested after their car was shot at.

The three terrorists were planning to carry out bombing attacks on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy Muslim fasting month of Ramadan. Eight individuals who were accompanying the terrorists were also arrested, the Iranian police spokesman concluded.

On April 2, Iranian media outlets reported that the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) intelligence forces had arrested two militants affiliated with the Daesh Khorasan (Daesh-K) terrorist group in the central province of Qom.

The terrorists were captured at the entrance gate of the holy shrine of Fatima Masoumeh (SA), the sister of the eighth Shia Imam, Ali ibn Musa al-Reza (AS).

Against genocide: A conversation with Ofer Cassif

(Stephanie Van Hook - Waging Nonviolence) - Dr. Ofer Cassif has ongoingly and courageously stood for the mutual security of Israelis and Palestinians by opposing the violence of Israel toward the Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, and since Oct. 7 has spoken out against genocidal violence in Gaza as well as the violence of Hamas. For this, he was subject to a vote of impeachment from the Knesset on Feb. 19, which did not succeed. A voice of courage and dissent in a time of violence and escalation, Dr. Cassif is leading the way for peace and nonviolence within the Israeli parliament.

The Knesset narrowly voted against the expulsion of lawmaker Ofer Cassif, with 85 lawmakers voting in favor of the measure, short of the 90 necessary to expel a lawmaker. Eleven members of Knesset voted against the measure, while 24 were absent. Lawmakers had sought to oust Cassif, a member of the Hadash party, for expressing support for the genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice.
