The Democratic National Committee (DNC) filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) last week claiming West's bids in Arizona and North Carolina took illegal in-kind contributions from Republican-aligned groups.

The complaint alleges that West's campaign took on about $240,000 worth of petitioning services provided by two GOP-aligned groups, Wells Marketing LLC and the staff of Blitz Canvassing.

Specifically, the DNC claims that West's campaign violated Arizona law by allowing the canvassers to work on their behalf without paying them or authorizing their work with the FEC, therefore making the [volunteer] free work an illegal in-kind contribution. The Justice for All Party, backing West, committed the same violation in North Carolina, the DNC claims.

The North Carolina Board of Elections denied the Justice for All Party's ballot application at a meeting last week. Democrats on the elections board claimed the group misled members of the public into signing petitions.

A group of West backers sued the state board on Monday, claiming it improperly denied the party's application and that West should be placed on the ballot. The attorneys behind that suit also have previous ties to Republican politics, previously representing the Republican National Committee [RNC] and other GOP-aligned groups. It is unclear if the suit has any direct Republican backing.

McCaul [!] added: "This vitriolic behavior goes beyond peaceful protests and free speech. It will only further incite violence. Our nation's leaders on both sides of the aisle must fully denounce this ugly, pro-Hamas extremism and make clear that antisemitism has no place in America."

The U.S. Capitol Police said in a statement that "no flags under our protection have been removed or vandalized" though non-Capitol Police officers were seen making mass arrests near Union Station after the speech.

It's unclear whether his exit from the race will affect the handling of Hur's materials by the Justice Department, which has argued that the release of audio of Biden's interviews with Hur would violate the [ex-]president's privacy, lead to potential abuse—such as deepfakes—and deter other witnesses from agreeing to recorded interviews. Biden asserted executive privilege over the audio recordings of his interviews in a bid to head off House Republicans' effort to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress for refusing to release the recordings.
