Qatar: ex-PM says Netanyahu 'never interested in deal, only to eliminate Palestinians' | MEMO |

The former Prime Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Al-Thani has said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has never been interested in concluding a ceasefire-prisoner swap deal with the Palestinians and does not even want peace. His only goal, added the former Qatari official, is to eliminate the Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip.

"Netanyahu wants the war to continue and the mediation efforts and meetings to continue without any noteworthy achievement," Sheikh Al-Thani posted on X yesterday. He stressed that the Israeli premier will continue with this policy "until he completes the mission he decided to carry out, which is to liquidate and exterminate the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip."

This, he added, is not a new policy for Netanyahu. "This has been his policy in all peace talks since the beginning. He wants it to be just a pointless discussion that does not lead to peace based on the two-state solution."

The former prime minister asked rhetorically if the mediators would ever go to a special session of the UN Security Council where things are called out for what they are. "The world knows, albeit late, who is obstructing the achievement of positive results for this dilemma and who is committing the ongoing killings and genocide in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank." He called on the Security Council to issue a "clear resolution" to stop this massacre and punish whoever continues it from any party.

Flouting a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire, Israel has faced international condemnation amid its continued brutal offensive on Gaza since a cross-border incursion led by the Palestinian resistance group Hamas last October.

Excellent month for him after the standing ovation in a United U.S. Congress. Is strengthened politically at home ... surges ahead of anyone else and has become a heroic figure of Zionism in Biblical proportions.

Succes in two assassinations on territory of Iranian sovereignty with little damage done in retaliation.

Biden, Harris briefed by national security team on situation in Middle East | Anadolu Agency |

- Leaders 'updated on US military efforts to support the defense of Israel' as well as 'continued diplomatic efforts to de-escalate regional tension and to bring the cease-fire and hostage release deal to a conclusion'

US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee to succeed him, were briefed by their national security team on the situation in the Middle East.

The briefing comes ahead of closely-watched negotiations in Doha, Qatar that are slated to begin Thursday on efforts to bring a cease-fire to the besieged Gaza Strip.

The critical talks are about to transpire as the region braces for a potential retaliatory strike from Iran after the Palestinian group Hamas's political leader, Ismail Haniyeh, was assassinated in the Iranian capital Tehran last month. Iran and its regional allies have placed blame squarely on Israel for the killing, though Tel Aviv has not confirmed or denied responsibility.

The White House said Biden and Harris "were updated on US military efforts to support the defense of Israel."

"They were also briefed on continued diplomatic efforts to de-escalate regional tension and to bring the cease-fire and hostage release deal to a conclusion," it added.

The White House said Biden is dispatching CIA Director Bill Burns and Brett McGurk, the president's senior official for the Middle East, to represent the US at the talks.

Hamas said earlier in the day that it will not join the latest round of negotiations.

On Sunday, Hamas demanded that Gaza cease-fire mediators present a plan to implement a proposal supported by Biden, which it agreed with on July 2.

DNC 'Delegates Against Genocide' urge a 'no' vote on Democratic Party platform

The coalition objects to the platform's failure to demand a permanent and sustainable ceasefire in Gaza enforced by a U.S. arms embargo on Israel.

"Voting 'No' on this platform is a stand for justice and human rights ...
it is a statement that NEVER AGAIN means NEVER AGAIN for everyone, everywhere, period," said Liano Sharon, a representative of Delegates Against Genocide and elected DNC Member from Michigan. "The platform fails to address the ongoing mass murder and genocide by Israel in Gaza and the West Bank; it fails to hold those responsible for atrocities accountable, undermining our party's commitment to international justice and democracy. We either support human rights everywhere, for everyone, or we aren't supporting justice or democracy anywhere, for anyone. An injury to one is an injury to all, as every union member understands."

Delegates Against Genocide also calls for the Democratic Party to fully enforce the Leahy Law, which prohibits U.S. military assistance to foreign security forces that commit gross human rights violations. The coalition demands that the United States actively engage with and support the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in their efforts to investigate and prosecute war crimes and crimes against humanity, including those occurring in Palestine.

This is Plan Mole: Following the newly declassified records from the Kafr Qasim Massacre trial

Following a review of records from the Kafr Qasim Massacre trial opened for public access by order of the Military Court in an application brought by an Akevot Institute researcher, Akevot Institute presents a summary of Plan Mole's key points. Now, with the plan's details clearly emerging from the opened records, it is difficult to find justification for keeping the remaining records sealed.

For several years after Raz submitted the application to open the records in 2017, the state, represented by the Military Prosecution, maintained the position that none of the remaining sealed transcripts or exhibits from the Kafr Qasim Massacre trial whatsoever should be opened for public access. The position was based on secret expert opinions submitted to the Military Court by various parties. It was only in late 2021 that some of the parties changed their position regarding a large part of the requested records, and several months later, the former president of the Military Court of Appeals, Major General Doron Feiles, issued his decision.

In practice, most of the transcripts have been opened for access, while some of the key exhibits - including a concise version of Plan Mole and several military documents relating to it - remain sealed on the grounds of protecting Israel's foreign relations. The court also withheld permission to access photographs taken at the scene about three months after the Massacre, as well as photos of some of the victims themselves. Akevot Institute continues the legal battle to have the sealed records opened.

General's Final Confession Links 1956 Massacre to Israel's Secret Plan to Expel Arabs | Haaretz - 13 Oct 2018 |

'Yiska' Shadmi, the highest IDF officer tried
for the Kafr Qasem massacre, admitted before
his death that his trial was staged to protect
military and political elites. ...
Historian Adam Raz believes that behind the horrific
1956 event was a secret plan to transfer Israel's Arabs

[...]
Now, in the wake of Shadmi's death and the publication of Raz's book, we are publishing the former IDF officer's testimony for the first time. At its center is his contention that the 1958 court case against him was nothing more than a show trial, staged in order to keep Israel's security and political elite - including Prime Minister Ben-Gurion, IDF Chief of Staff Moshe Dayan, and GOC Central Command (and later chief of staff) Tzvi Tzur - from having to take responsibility for the massacre.

In the '80s, Joe Biden Speculated to Israel's PM About Wiping Out Canadians

In 1982, Israeli prime minister Menachem Begin visited Washington, DC. Israel had invaded Lebanon, where various Palestinian factions were then headquartered, and the world was watching bloodshed in the Middle East.

[...]
Some of the details of what Begin recalls Biden telling him are genuinely shocking, but they seem to now be largely forgotten in Israel -- especially a hypothetical Biden floated about the United States bombing cities in Canada. "If attacks were launched from Canada into the US," Biden remarked, "everyone here would have said, 'Attack all the cities of Canada, and we don't care if all the civilians get killed.'"

Has UK support for Israel reached a tipping point? | The New Arab - 9 Apr 2024 |

Analysis: British MPs and advocacy groups told The New Arab that the UK must suspend weapons to Israel if it is to abide by domestic and international law.

Pressure has been mounting on the British government to suspend arms sales to Israel throughout the Gaza war.

In March, the UK government was advised by his lawyers that Israel was violating international law in Gaza, but failed to announce it publicly. Calls to suspend arms sales grew even louder after Israel killed seven NGO workers in April, three of whom were British citizens.

Following the incident, more than 600 British jurists, including three retired judges, addressed an open letter to then Conservative prime minister Rishi Sunak saying the UK would be violating international law if weapons sales continued. No action, however, was taken.

AOC speech at Democratic Convention

Domestic policy wins election, not evils of foreign policy or the massacre of civilians in Palestine.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez urges Democrats to "choose a new path" in raucous DNC speech | CBS News |

Ocasio-Cortez called Harris someone who "understands the urgency of rent checks and groceries and prescriptions."

"I am here tonight because America has before us a rare and precious opportunity," Ocasio-Cortez said. "In Kamala Harris, we have a chance to elect a president who is for the middle class because she is from the middle class."

Ocasio-Cortez also took swipes at former President Donald Trump, getting thunderous applause as she called him a "two-bit union buster" and said he would "sell this country for a dollar if it meant lining his own pockets and greasing the palms of his Wall Street friends."

"The truth is Don, you cannot love your country if you only fight for the wealthy and big business," she said. "To love this country is to fight for its people, all people, working people, everyday Americans like bartenders and factory workers and fast-food cashiers who punch a clock and are on their feet all day in some of the toughest jobs out there."

But between the applause lines and cheerleading for Harris, Ocasio-Cortez said Harris has been "working tirelessly to secure a ceasefire in Gaza and bring hostages home."

Abandon Biden protesters unveil banner, only to have it wrestled away

A couple of protesters from the Abandon Biden movement unfurled a protest sign late Monday that read "STOP ARMING ISRAEL" in the Florida delegation section a few minutes after Biden began his speech. The group, which is pushing for third-party candidates, has been campaigning against Biden's reelection campaign since the start of the Israel-Hamas war.

Israel's counterattack in Gaza has killed more than 40,000 Palestinians, according to local health authorities, and devastated much of the territory. The war has plunged the territory of 2.3 million people into a humanitarian catastrophe, with aid groups now fearing an outbreak of polio.

The sign was quickly wrestled away from the protesters and the lights in that section of the convention were turned off. Other convention goers responded to the protest by chanting "We love Joe" and holding up their banners in support of the president.
