[Update-1] Preliminary EXIT POLL RESULTS
Final Debate - Today is Election Day
A campaign that actually started in November 2023 ends on Wednesday evening. Lost two years of a ruling coalition under leadership of Islamophobe Geert Wilders (PVV).
Bontenbal criticizes VVD in crucial final debate: 'Voters are fed up with political games' | De Volkskrant |
The result is an army of voters who, on Tuesday, still weren't sure which box they'd be ticking today. A final battle unfolded that gave political commentators little to hold on to until the very last moment. Never before in post-war history were there four candidates who, on election morning, could even dream of being handed the keys to the Torentje.
For Frans Timmermans (GreenLeft-PvdA), Rob Jetten (D66), Henri Bontenbal (CDA), and Dilan Yesilgöz (VVD), a few more seats tonight will make the difference between taking the initiative in the upcoming coalition formation or waiting to see if the ball rolls their way.
Leadership
The final debate concluded with a discussion between Wilders, Bontenbal, and Timmermans about leadership. The PVV leader also came under fire for the failure of the Schoof cabinet and his "politics of hate." Wilders, however, called the PVV "the party of hope." "We are the party of the forgotten, the people in working-class neighborhoods who see their neighborhoods completely changed and who have become tourists in their own country."
The PVV leader did acknowledge that "things haven't worked out in recent years." "But that's not our fault. We've been thwarted, thwarted, thwarted. If I had become prime minister, which I deserved as leader of the largest party, we would have rolled out that agenda."
Timmermans and Bontenbal dismissed it. "Wilders had his chance these past two years," said the CDA leader. "He has let his voters down en masse, and he will do so again next time." I don't understand why we should give him a third chance.
Timmermans also predicted that the Wilders era will be over after Wednesday. "Tomorrow we'll have the chance to work together again, to bridge our differences. Tomorrow we can draw a line under the Wilders era. I'm looking forward to that. It's over with Wilders."

Bontenbal of the young generation, indoctrinated by American policy towards the Russian Federation is a follower, not a leader understanding how global politics is set by a Washington narrative (NATO) and disinformation.

Exit Poll Neck-and-Neck Race D66 + PVV
Biggest Winner is Rob Jetten of D66 (Democrats ‘66)
D66 top the NOS exit poll with 27 seats, PVV second on 25 | NOS |
The NOS exit poll, based on the voting behaviour of some 80,000 people at polling stations around the country, suggests the D66 liberal party is on target to win 27 seats in the Dutch general election, making them the biggest party.
The NOS poll puts the far right PVV in second place with 25 and VVD in third with 23 but the margin of error of one to two seats is enough to make the results extremely uncertain.
If the poll proves accurate, that means Rob Jetten is most likely to be the next prime minister of the Netherlands, and is a major blow to far right leader Geert Wilders, who won the 2023 election with 37 seats.
[Update-2]
D66 and PVV are now level on seats according to new night-time forecast
Exit Poll Inaccuracy …
Although within the margin of error, and still counting some municipalities this morning, leading D66 loses one seat and PVV gains one positioning both on 26. Neck-and-neck …
Never ever has an election shown diverse result with no party above 30 seats (20%) of the vote.
Strategic voting last minute
Even the enthusiasm to cast a vote was a bit higher than 2 years ago … however the last substantive shift from the latest poll 2 days ago was caused by strategic voting. The smaller parties lost votes and the contending party voters switched to the surging party D66 after its call to defeat hate-mongering Geert Wilders … exactly what happened.
The radical right shifted away from the PVV 26 (-11) to the smaller extreme right parties: JA21 9 (+8) - FvD 7 (+4). The VVD electorate with Rutte gained from PVV voters, lost the same under new leadership of Dilan Yesilgöz, who participated in coalition with Geert Wilders. She was inaccurately polling lower a few days ago at 16-17 seats but ended Wednesday at 22 (-2), the best performer of the PVV coalition. The new party NSC imploded from 22 seats to none yesterday.
