A peace deal to be negotiated wijl be from a position of strength on the ground in agreement as goal from both sides at the start of Biden's war against Putin ... it was quite personal of the anti-Russian warmongers from the past ... see Ivo Daalder and John Kerry in speeches @AtlanticCouncil.
Trump has no interest to spend his time on Biden's conflict. Damn ... unwrap the propaganda and NATO emperor Rutte has no clothes. As I predicted some time ago ... his tempest has no place in Europe ... Rutte has to go 😆

'It's unrealistic to think Ukraine will return to its 2014 borders',
says US defence secretary Pete Hegseth
The US Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth tells allies that, with Donald Trump as US president, it is "unrealistic" to think Ukraine can return to its pre-2014 borders and America must focus on the threat posed by China and securing its own borders.
Hegseth says return to Ukraine's 2014 borders 'unrealistic' | BBC News |
Pete Hegseth, the new US defence secretary, has said it is "unrealistic" to expect Ukraine to return to its pre-2014 borders, when Russia first captured Crimea and Moscow-backed proxies pushed into eastern Ukraine.
Speaking at a defence summit in Brussels, Hegseth said it would only be possible to establish a "durable peace" with a "realistic assessment of the battlefield".
During an uncompromising speech, he also downplayed the prospect of Ukraine joining NATO, ruled out deploying US troops to Ukraine under any future security arrangement and said European nations needed to spend much more on defence.
The NATO military alliance has previously pledged Kyiv an "irreversible path" to membership.
Hegseth's comments will be met with dismay in Ukraine - which has repeatedly called for Nato membership and has rejected ceding territory as part of any peace deal - and will be welcomed by Moscow.
The new US defence secretary's remarks are also the clearest indication yet of the Trump administration's position on the Ukraine war and what a peace plan to end the conflict could involve.
There will also be nervousness across the continent after Hegseth suggested the US would significantly scale back its support for Ukraine, insisting that European nations would now need to provide the "overwhelming share" of aid to Kyiv.
Hegseth, who was appointed defence secretary after Donald Trump returned to the US presidency in January, was speaking at the Ukraine Defence Contact Group, a meeting of more than 40 countries allied to Ukraine.
He said: "We want, like you, a sovereign and prosperous Ukraine.
"But we must start by recognising that returning to Ukraine's pre-2014 borders is an unrealistic objective.
"Chasing this illusionary goal will only prolong the war and cause more suffering."
Russia annexed the Black Sea peninsula of Crimea from Ukraine in March 2014 and then backed pro-Russian separatists in an armed insurgency against Kyiv's forces in eastern Ukraine.
Moscow currently controls around a fifth of Ukraine's territory, mainly in the east and south.
Trump shuts and seals Joe Biden's foreign policy legacy of 50 years warmongering.

Pure capitalism ... destroy a competitor ... UK's exit from the EU made it so much easier. UK's pain will be short term, for the economic relapse of the EU-27 it will be long term, most likely a fatal blow. The global powers in 2040 will be so much different, Europe as a client state of the US. Militarily through NATO and on foreign policy via the White House. Great move #macron France, #scholz Germany and #draghi Italy. The Brussels Triad of Michel, Borrell and VDL was worthless.

Defence leaders from across the world have gathered in Brussels today as the UK convenes a major Ukraine summit at NATO HQ, demonstrating the UK’s leadership and unwavering military support for Ukraine in its fight against Putin’s illegal invasion.
Over 50 allies and partners, including Ukraine, the US, Japan and Australia, met for the 26th Ukraine Defence Contact Group, chaired by Defence Secretary John Healey, the first time for any European nation.
Opening the meeting, the Defence Secretary announced a new £150m military support package to support Ukrainian troops fighting Russia on the frontline, part of the UK’s unprecedented £3 billion annual pledge to Ukraine.
This year, the UK’s total commitment has reached its highest ever level, standing at £4.5 billion, ensuring Ukraine can achieve peace through strength and underscoring the new 100 Year Partnership between the UK and Ukraine.
Chairing the meeting, Defence Secretary John Healey said:
" 2025 is the critical year for the war in Ukraine. Ukrainians continue to fight with huge courage – military and civilians alike, and their bravery – fused with our support – has proved a lethal combination.
" Speaking as a European Defence Minister, we know our responsibilities. We are doing more of the heavy lifting and sharing more of the burden.
" While Russia is weakened, it remains undeniably dangerous. We must step up further – and secure peace through strength – together.
As the US pulls out to reap the critical metals or rare earths from Ukraine 😂 … the European suckers are left holding an empty bag that’s ablaze 🔥 🔥

Professor Jeffrey Sachs on Ukraine, NATO and Russia
The War in Ukraine Was Provoked—and Why That Matters to Achieve Peace | 23 May 2023 |
A mini-documentary on the background of the Ukraine conflict follows Jeffrey Sachs’ lecture at the Cambridge Union. The journey begins in the early 1990s and continues to the present day.
The documentary features interviews and statements from world leaders along the way, shedding light on significant historical geopolitical events and questioning the narrative created by Western media. What is true and what is not—that decision is left to the viewer.
However, the most important thing is not who is right but that there are understandable explanations for everything that has happened, and that these events are merely the result of a chain reaction of numerous events, the consequences of which we are now witnessing.

"Peace" On Agenda, Trump's Phone Calls With Putin, Zelensky
Trump said on Truth Social that both leaders had extended invitations of "visiting each other's nations," while the US leader said he would be calling Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky "right now" to inform him about the call.
US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke by phone Wednesday and agreed to immediately start talks to end the Ukraine war, in an extraordinary thaw in relations that could leave Kyiv out in the cold.
Trump described the call as "lengthy and highly productive" in a post on Truth Social, saying the two leaders had also agreed to visit each other to address the deep tensions since Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
The Kremlin said the call lasted nearly one-and-a-half hours and that Putin and Trump had agreed that the "time has come to work together".
"I just had a lengthy and highly productive phone call with President Vladimir Putin of Russia," Trump said, adding that they had discussed Ukraine, the Middle East, artificial intelligence and other subjects.
Trump said they agreed that "we want to stop the millions of deaths taking place in the War with Russia/Ukraine" -- with Trump using an unconfirmed figure for the toll in the Ukraine conflict.
"We agreed to work together, very closely, including visiting each other's Nations," said Trump.
"We have also agreed to have our respective teams start negotiations immediately" on Ukraine.
