Europe's big guns sideline the EU to get real on Ukraine | Politico |

As Europe grapples with its deepest security crisis ⁉️ [WTF] since 1945, a small group of the continent's leading powers took a radical step: They dumped the traditional craving for 27-nation consensus at Brussels summits and tried to sort out the mess themselves.

French President Emmanuel Macron's mini-summit in Paris brought together the leaders of Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland, Denmark and even the United Kingdom -- which left the European Union five years ago. [NATO's SG Rutte was invited plus new Dutch PM Dick Schoof ... hybrid warfare expert AIVD]

But there was no invitation for Hungary's Viktor Orbán, Slovakia's Robert Fico -- or others deemed too sympathetic to Moscow to be helpful in an emergency. Smaller EU states such as Latvia and Estonia were also excluded, even though they're among the bloc's most hawkish members on dealing with Russia.

Finally, I spoke with the Crown Prince about Russia's war in Ukraine and the role Saudi Arabia could play in fostering a solid and lasting peace, with Europeans at the center of the process.

All fools on the Munich stage with Europe's bold vision of 2022 explained ... madam Baerbock leads off ... the younger generation who has refused to learn the lessons of Nazi aggression in the Second World War and the horrors of the Holocaust. Of course she wants to deal with Russia from a position of strength ... the war is won by the reality on the ground ... correct Madam?

Trump looked around, took his time and is committed to keep close relations with Keir Starmer, a leader who will be around for the next 4 years ... many government leaders will be confronted by elections and a growing opposition.

VDL and the EU will be a partner for the White House on trade talks after sanctions are out in place. UK's Starmer will have an exceptional position.

Existential moment ... why should any nation listen to this whining ...  the exact term used by Russian president Putin in December 2021 ... no one came with a decent reaction or effort to set at the table. In Februari 2022 was the start of Biden's war ... a continuation of a blunt disregard for a democratically elected leader of the Ukraine. Zelensky's 5 year term has ended and Ukraine is under Martial Law ... yet they lost the ground war on their own territory. The graves are filled with "heroes."
