The Hague for over 100 years was meant to be the city of peace ... today the Dutch are manipulated the enter an era of violence and war ... contrary to the founding principles of the EEC ... the founding six included the Benelux, France, Germany and Italy. Successive administrations and U.S. Congress have managed to split the European Union in the established "Old Europe" and the ambitious "New Europe" with a bagage of hate, distrust and sometimes corruption. .. damn America and perpetual wars for economic gain ‼️

On the 11th of May 1903, the American steel magnate and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie (1835-1919) donated a substantial capital for the founding of a 'Peace Temple' in the Dutch government city of The Hague. On 28 August 1913, the Peace Palace, home of the Permanent Court of Arbitration and later on the UN International Court of Justice was officially inaugurated in a grand manner. All over the city, bells were tolling half an hour prior to the start of the solemn inauguration. A more peace full world seemed to be on the horizon.
During the opening ceremony of the Peace Palace a choir performed and the Royal Military Chapel played cheerful music in the newly landscaped gardens. Worthy of note, is that one of the members of the orchestra - J.J.H. van Rosmalen - would receive a personal `thank you note' from the wealthy benefactor Andrew Carnegie about ten months later.

International criminal court condemns Trump sanctions on its staff | The Guardian |
Court says US move is an attempt to `harm its impartial judicial work' and calls on member states to oppose it
The International Criminal Court (ICC) has vowed to continue its judicial work after US President Donald Trump signed an order to impose sanctions on its staff.
The ICC said it "stands firmly" by its personnel and the order seeks to harm its "independent and impartial" work.
[...]
At a very late moment, the ICC issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over alleged war crimes in Gaza, which Israel denies.
The ICC is a world court, although the US and Israel are not members, with the power to bring prosecutions for genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes.
In its statement, it said: "The ICC condemns the issuance by the US of an executive order seeking to impose sanctions on its officials and harm its independent and impartial judicial work."
It added it stood by its personnel, pledging "to continue providing justice and hope to millions of innocent victims of atrocities across the world".
In recent years, the court has issued arrest warrants for Russian President Vladimir Putin over alleged war crimes in Ukraine, Taliban leaders for "persecuting Afghan girls and women" and Myanmar's military leader for crimes against the Rohingya Muslims.
More than 120 countries are members, including the UK and many European nations, with confirmation to uphold international law and Post World War order.

The Dutch government also reacted against Trump's executive order. "The Netherlands regrets the executive order imposing sanctions on the ICC. The court's work is essential in the fight against impunity," foreign affairs minister Caspar Veldkamp reacted on social media ...
According to an analysis last month by De Volkskrant, Volkskrant, the Netherlands runs a particular risk, given that it hosts the ICC and that everyone who has been arrested ends up on Dutch soil. Although detention is up to the court, everything between Schiphol airport and the 12 ICC cells at Scheveningen jail is the responsibility of the Netherlands.
The Netherlands also provides operational support, including security and access to suspects and witnesses.

Social Media Effects: Hijacking Democracy and Civility in Civic Engagement | NCBI – 2020 |
Perceived as an equalizing force for disenfranchised individuals without a voice, the importance of social networks as agents of change cannot be ignored. However, in some societies, social networks have evolved into a platform for fake news and propaganda, empowering disruptive voices, ideologies, and messages. Social networks such as Twitter, Facebook, and Google hold the potential to alter civic engagement, thus essentially hijacking democracy, by influencing individuals toward a particular way of thinking.
Computer-mediated communication , a novel and emerging area just a few decades ago, has evolved from an academic collaboration tool to what is commonly referred to as new and social media. New and social media have been touted as an equalizer for disenfranchised individuals to participate or contribute in civic engagement and to foster democratic ideals. However, the current state of social media and networking sites leave individuals to conclude that these media platforms may be holding democracy hostage instead of leading to the free and equal democratic ideals they were believed to support.

Social Media and Israel-Palestine Conflict: Influence, Bias, and Impact on Public Discourse | Modern Diplomacy – 14 Dec. 2024 |
In reaction to speaking out about the Palestine-Israel conflict, many users have observed that social media platforms are manipulating algorithms to censor and reduce the visibility of posts supporting Palestine, a practice commonly referred to as “shadow banning.” Targeted advertising and selective reporting have become prominent features in online discussions about the conflict. In some countries, advertisements promoting specific perspectives on the issue were displayed on platforms like YouTube, further shaping the narrative and influencing public opinion on the matter.
Hashtag usage on social media shows a significant disparity in support for Palestine and Israel. Pro-Palestine hashtags like #FreePalestine (10.8 million posts) and #StopGenocideInGaza (231,941 posts) have far more engagement than pro-Israel hashtags like #StandwithIsrael (367,275 posts). Despite this online support for Palestine, advocates have accused Instagram of restricting access to pro-Palestine content and limiting its reach.
An Intercept report from January 2024 highlighted that, despite the rising death toll in Palestine, major U.S. media outlets such as the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and Washington Post maintained a one-sided stance, with their coverage significantly declining over time.
In the Israel-Palestine conflict, some countries have reduced aid or severed diplomatic ties with Israel.
In many Western nations, double standards regarding freedom of expression have surfaced, as pro-Palestinian student protests in the U.S. led to censorship, disciplinary actions, and over 2,600 arrests. The Biden administration, facing domestic and international pressure, tried to address the Gaza humanitarian crisis. However, the standing ovation given to Netanyahu during his address to Congress highlights the ongoing support for Israel among American lawmakers.

7.2 Educating Citizens for Peacebuilding
Educating citizens in the context of peacebuilding involves equipping individuals with the skills and knowledge to recognize and critically engage with propaganda. This education fosters a culture of awareness, where citizens can discern factual information from manipulative narratives. By developing critical thinking skills, individuals become more resilient against misleading portrayals that can derail peace efforts.
Programs aimed at educating citizens often include workshops, community discussions, and online resources. These initiatives can provide practical tools for identifying propaganda tactics, such as emotional manipulation, selective information presentation, and false dichotomies. Such understanding empowers individuals to question narratives that may exacerbate conflict and promotes a more informed public dialogue.
Furthermore, integrating peace education into school curricula is vital for nurturing future generations. This approach fosters a sense of shared responsibility among students and encourages them to engage in peaceful conflict resolution. As young individuals learn about the dangers of propaganda, they become active participants in peacebuilding efforts in their communities.
Ultimately, informing citizens about the impact of propaganda on peace lays the groundwork for a proactive society. An educated populace can challenge divisive narratives and contribute to a collective movement toward lasting peace and understanding.
10 Promoting Peace in a Propaganda-Driven World
Navigating a propaganda-driven world demands significant efforts to promote peace through various strategies. Empowering communities with media literacy can effectively counter harmful narratives that contribute to conflict. By equipping individuals with tools to critically analyze information, societies can foster a more informed citizenry capable of identifying propaganda.
Engaging in dialogue and fostering open discussions can also mitigate the divisive effects of propaganda. Facilitating platforms for different viewpoints encourages understanding and empathy, essential components for peacebuilding. When diverse voices are heard, propaganda’s impact can be diminished, paving the way for constructive engagement.
International organizations and local governments play vital roles in promoting peace. Initiatives aimed at reinforcing trust among communities can reshape narratives typically driven by propaganda. Collaborative peacebuilding projects should emphasize shared values and collective goals, which can counteract the divisive nature of propaganda.
Ultimately, strategic use of communication channels to disseminate positive narratives can foster peace. By highlighting cooperative efforts and successful conflict resolution stories, societies can inspire hope and unity, diminishing the sway of propaganda in promoting discord.
