Germany will support Ukraine in its struggle for independence and territorial integrity as long as Ukraine needs it, the German Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock, has said at the 17th y Annual Meeting "Ukraine: Defending All Our Freedom", organised by YES in partnership with the Victor Pinchuk Foundation.
"We will keep helping Ukraine, including military help, as it fights not only for its own freedom and independence, but also for peace in Europe. Support with weapons is very important considering the upcoming meeting of the UN General Assembly. We will stay with Ukraine for all these months before winter and when winter comes, we will stay with Ukraine as long as it needs."
Baerbock also said the beginning of liberation of the occupied territories gives a glimmer of hope for a soon end of the war.
"We see the Ukrainian troops moving forward, the liberation of people and territories. This is a moment of hope and it is needed. We are 150% on Ukraine's side and Ukrainian people's side. And we will stay there as long as Ukrainian people need us. Ukraine defends democratic rights, democratic structures and democratic principles."

Ukrainian forces may still need heavy weaponry next summer, German foreign minister tells Bild am Sonntag.
The war in Ukraine could last for years, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said, assuring the country's continued support from Europe's biggest economy.
"We need to be prepared for the possibility that the war could last for years," she told Germany's Bild am Sonntag in an interview published on Sunday. This implies that Ukraine may still need to be provided with heavy weaponry next summer, she added.
"Ukraine is defending our freedom, security architecture too and we support Ukraine financially and militarily for as long as necessary," she was quoted as saying.
The foreign minister also defended Ukraine's claim to the Black Sea peninsula of Crimea, which was seized by Russia in 2014. "Crimea is also part of Ukraine. The world never recognized the illegal annexation of 2014," she said.

The German government was forced to distance itself from comments made by German Navy Chief Kay-Achim Schönbach, who told a think tank panel in Dehli that concern about a Russian invasion was overblown and that "what Putin really wants is respect."
Schönbach, who said he was voicing his private opinion but was wearing his uniform, also said Crimea was "gone" and would "never come back" to Ukraine, and argued in favor of cooperating with Russia to contain China's rise.

Baerbock's statements were similar to those of other European leaders discussing how to approach likely changes to transatlantic relations during Trump's second term.
"We are increasing the pressure on the Americans so that they have as much to lose as possible if they no longer stand by the side of the liberal democracies of Europe," Baerbock told a campaign event in Potsdam.
The foreign minister referred to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz's declaration of a "turning point" when it came to increasing Berlin's military strength in light of the ["unprovoked"] Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. [slip of the pen to omit unprovoked? 🙃 - Oui]
"Three years ago we said: It is a turning point. Now we need a second turning point, no more hesitation and procrastination for our peace," she said.
Baerbock warned that any deal that handed Russia Ukrainian territory without offering Kyiv any security guarantee -- without the consent of Ukraine -- would fail.
"A false peace -- that is, a peace that is not peace but blackmail or a capitulation -- is not peace, but the opposite: further preparation for even more war and violence," said Baerbock. "That is why I will support Ukraine as long as it needs it, because it is our peace."

First, I would like to draw your attention to this truly unprecedented situation. Gonzalo Lira was a national of both the US and Chile but these countries preferred to leave him without attention and support from the moment of his arrest by the Security Service of Ukraine. They essentially consigned this "inconvenient" journalist to execution. Santiago has done all it could to hush up this issue even when his tragic death became public. For many months before, the Chilean authorities ignored the repeated appeals of international and local human rights activists not to abandon him by shifting responsibility for his fate to the US Department of State.
Ignored by state officials of both the U.S. and Chile ... no attention from the human rights "warriors" in Brussels pushing the war agenda.
Zelensky said he did not know the journalist Lira, who died in a Ukrainian prison.
