3. Newcomer Ruben Brekelmans may join war talks in June in The Hague.

Nato’s proposed new defence spending target of 3.5% of GDP would require the Netherlands to increase its defence budget by between €16 billion and €19 billion a year, defence minister Ruben Brekelmans told parliament in a briefing.
The Netherlands currently spends around 2% of GDP on defence, or just over €22 billion a year.
Brekelmans said the Netherlands needs to invest in air defences, artillery and transport planes, and boost its armed forces headcount by between 17,000 and 18,000 full-time positions to meet the new NATO goals.

Most EU countries also belong to NATO, and for the last decade the alliance has called on them to spend at least 2 percent of their GDP on defense; 24 of NATO's 32 members now meet that target.
But Donald Trump is upping the ante. Last week, the U.S. president-elect called on allies to spend 5 percent of GDP on defense — much more than even America, which spends 3.38 percent.
For many countries, reaching 2 percent was a struggle — and 5 percent looks out of reach. Rutte didn't bring good news to politicians hoping for a reprieve.

We need to understand how serious this situation really is and that, down to the individual level, you mentally prepare yourself. Watch the news reporting from Ukraine and ask yourself the simple questions: If this happens here, do I have things in place? What should I do? The more people who have thought, pondered and prepared, the stronger our society is, said Bydén on TV4's Nyhetsmorgon.
