Genocide in Gaza and the Politics of False Equivalencies | by Henry Giroux - 30 Jan. 2024 |

The condemnation of the killing of civilians and children cannot be addressed through the lens of false equivalency, suggesting all sides are equally guilty in the war on Gaza.  What Hamas did on October 7th 2023, however horrendous, is not equivalent to the suffering and terror imposed by the Israeli state on Palestinians both historically and in light of the current escalating scale of what amounts to massive, unthinkable, and unconscionable violence.

The relentless killing of children by Israeli Defence Forces and its elimination of the most basic needs of the Palestinian people in Gaza is far from an abstraction or a sound bite that can be buried in the language of equivalence, or for that matter, the cravenly appeal to balance.  The killing of innocent children has continued in shockingly accelerated numbers with Israel's policy of collective punishment. As of February 22nd 2024, over 12,300 Palestinian children have been killed in Gaza `(43% of the total death toll), more than 1,000 children [have] one or both legs amputated', thousands remain missing, and over nine thousand are injured (Haiven, 2024; Aljazeera, 2024).  It is estimated that one Palestinian child is killed every fifteen minutes or over a hundred a day (Alsaafin and Osgood, 2024).

'We Are Fighting Human Animals': Dehumanization of Palestinians | 21 May 2024 |

"The power to narrate, or to block other narratives from forming
and emerging, is very important to culture and imperialism,
and constitutes one of the main connections between them."

― Edward Said, Culture and Imperialism

"There will be no electricity, no food, no water, no fuel, everything will be closed. We are fighting against human animals and will act accordingly.", These were the words spoken by the Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant as he announced a complete siege over the Gaza Strip seven months ago.

Since then, through violent assaults on healthcare systems, universities, humanitarian aid workers and residential areas, Israeli forces have killed over 35,000 unarmed civilians across Gaza with a majority consisting of women and children at a rate higher than any other armed conflict or war of the twenty-first century.

From before its birth as a state, the Jews in Palestine formed wicked terror groups to rid Palestine from British colonial occupation ... and Palestinians, its indigenous peoples.

Holocaust Nakam or Avengers | Oui @BooMan - 24 Jan. 2018 |

Plot to murder 6 million Germans - Abba Kovner head of group called Nakam or Avengers. Plan was to add poison to the water supply in major West-German cities München, Nuremberg, Hamburg and Frankfurt. The British military foiled the plan. There was previously a threat from Israeli underground for terrorist strikes on London. The bombing of the King David hotel in Jerusalem was just a modest example.

Nakam
The Holocaust Survivors Who Sought Full-Scale Revenge

This book deals with the Nokmim group, which was founded by the poet and partisan Abba Kovner after World War II, when nearly six million Jews were murdered in the Holocaust and an entire culture was nearly wiped out. Some fifty young women and men decided to take vengeance against the German nation and kill six million of them.

The book will concentrate on the Nokmim in particular and not on the various other acts of vengeance carried out primarily by non-Jews against Germans, both before and after the end of the war. In contrast to those acts, the Nokmim wished their revenge to be public and on a scale that, in the view of the planners, would be commensurate with the Holocaust.

They wanted vengeance that would stand as the overt response of the victimized nation against the murderers, vengeance to be recounted around the world, visited on millions, vengeance that would strike the Germans in specific but warn the rest of the world that Jewish blood would never again be forfeited as it had throughout history and, above all, during the Holocaust.

Kovner's name for the group was an acronym spelling Din, the Hebrew word for justice, and standing for "The Blood of Israel Remembers." The name also echoed Dayan, the Hebrew word for a judge, signaling that anyone attempting to kill Jews would now risk judgment and execution.

Nakam vowed they would go after the guilty men and women who gave and followed the orders to execute the Holocaust, from the officers and train drivers to the camp guards and local vigilantes. One account dates the formation of the group to Spring 1945, in Bucharest, following a Passover gathering at which the future unofficial national poet of Israel, Abba Kovner, gave an address.

Quoting Psalm 94, "He will repay them for their iniquity and wipe them out for their wickedness", Kovner implied the German people had to pay, if not through the international courts, then at the hands of the Jews themselves.

The group then took part in its first wave of operations, killing individuals they had identified as directly implicated in the Genocide but had been allowed, or managed, to slip invisibly back into civilian life. There was a spike in the number of former SS and Gestapo officers who died in road or domestic accidents, or who took their own lives. It is unknown how many lives Nakam took, allegedly along with help from members of the British Army's Jewish Brigade, who took the secrets of their actions to the grave. It may be in the hundreds.

Then Nakam's leadership decided this would not do ...

HABEMUS PAPAM LEO XIV - Roberto Prevost

Roberto Prevost appointed Bishop of Peru by Pope Francis in 2015 | El País |

The Chicago native is also a Peruvian citizen.

Prevost spent the early part of his career working for the Augustinians. He served in Peru from 1985 to 1986 and from 1988 to 1998 as a parish pastor, diocesan official, seminary teacher and administrator. He was general of the Order of Saint Augustine from 2001 to 2013 and served as Bishop of Chiclayo in Peru from 2015 to 2023. He was made a cardinal in 2023 by Pope Francis. He was appointed prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops, a prominent role that raised his profile as a potential papal candidate, and president of the Pontifical Commission for Latin America in 2023. [Wikipedia]

With a calm and humble demeanor, he garnered little opposition, perhaps due to his low-profile approach (he has never given an interview). He is one of the few individuals whom Pope Francis specifically acknowledged, appointing him unexpectedly in 2023 as head of the powerful Dicastery for Bishops. In this role, he has interacted with leaders across all continents. Prevost brings significant experience in both pastoral care and governance, having served as superior of the Augustinian order, to which he belongs, and he is well-versed in the workings of the Curia.

Rerum Novarum teachings of Pope Leo III

The election of Pope Leo XIV is being celebrated across Latin America – particularly in Peru, where he lived and worked for more than 20 years and was granted citizenship in 2015 – as a kind of “second Latin American pope”, following his Argentine predecessor, Francis.

The president of Peru, Dina Boluarte, said that Leo’s election was “not only the first time that an American has ascended to the throne of Saint Peter, but also the first occasion on which a Peruvian, with more than 20 years of service on our soil, leads the Catholic Church as Supreme Pontiff.” She added:

“The Pope is Peruvian; God loves Peru.”

The new pope holds Peruvian citizenship, after having lived and worked in the country on at least three separate occasions since the 1980s – with a period back in Chicago in the early 2000s – and only left Peru in 2023, when he was appointed to a position at the Vatican.

In his first appearance from the Vatican balcony, Leo XIV briefly switched from Italian to Spanish to address the faithful “from my beloved diocese of Chiclayo, in Peru,” where he served as bishop for over a decade.

In Colombia, the interior minister, Armando Benedetti, posted on social media that the years spent in Peru “mean the new pope is once again a Latin American.”

“We cannot always prevent the murder of workers in an orchard or sleeping families, but we can set a high price for our blood. A price too high for the Arab settlement, the Arab army and the Arab government to pay. … [Retaliation operations] are not for vengeance. It is an act of punishment and warning, that if that state does not control its population and does not prevent them attacking us – the Israeli forces will cause havoc in its land.“

GazaGenocide ... Hasbara DisInfo and Israel lobby in full swing

Missouri House of Representatives - WITNESS APPEARANCE FORM

Jefferson city - Good morning. My name is Bruce Weingart. I am a citizen of Missouri, and a resident of the St. Louis area since 1987. I am a graduate of Washington University School of Law and a member of the Missouri Bar. I am also Jewish and hold a position of leadership in the St. Louis Jewish Community. I would implore this body to support and pass HCR 30. Now is the time to support our most steadfast ally in the Middle East, Israel. To support the only democracy [☹] in the Middle East, Israel. To support the only county [😊] in the Middle East where diversity is not only openly welcomed, but warmly embraced.

In no other country in the Middle East can Jew, Muslim, Christian, Druze, and Arab stand side by side and pray together, work together, and live together in harmony without fear of reprisals from the government. Israel is a multi-cultural nation. 50% of its population are considered people of color. And this diversity is what makes Israel the strong democracy she is, has always been, and will continue to be. Israel was brutally attacked on October 7, 2023. Over 1500 Israeli citizens were raped, beaten, beheaded, murdered, and taken hostage. 136 Israeli citizens remain hostages in Gaza. Israel did not want this war. This war was brought to Israel by Hamas and their proxy, Iran. Israel, like any nation, has a duty to protect its citizens in time of war. To extinguish existential threats to its very existence. Israel was attacked and Israel has a responsibility to act as any nation would and defend its populace. Since October 7, 2023, over 9000 rockets have continued to be fired indiscriminately at the citizens of Israel.

Not at military targets, but at population centers. Each rocket fired from Gaza by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad is a separate war crime. And terror attacks inside Israel encouraged by the "pay for slay" program of the Palestinian Authority continue unabated. At this very moment 250,000 Israelis have been displaced from their homes in both the Gaza corridor and Northern Israel as Israel is also under attack.

A DAY OF TERROR :: ISRAELI LEADERS : Spilled Blood Is Seen as Bond That Draws Our Two Nations Closer | The New York Times - 12 Sept. 2001 |

Israeli leaders, who have chafed at occasional American criticism of their measures against Palestinians, said the day's attacks would awaken the United States to the threat of global terrorism.

Asked tonight what the attack meant for relations between the United States and Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, the former prime minister, replied, ''It's very good.'' Then he edited himself: ''Well, not very good, but it will generate immediate sympathy.'' He predicted that the attack would ''strengthen the bond between our two peoples, because we've experienced terror over so many decades, but the United States has now experienced a massive hemorrhaging of terror.''

In an appearance late tonight, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon repeatedly placed Israel on the same ground as the United States, calling the assault an attack on ''our common values'' and declaring, ''I believe together we can defeat these forces of evil.'' He declared Wednesday a day of mourning.
