U.S. Policy: Break Up the European Union

From across the Big Pond the Heritage Foundation has adopted Margaret Thatcher ...

The Real Legacy of Margaret Thatcher, Britain's Iron Lady | The Heritage Foundation |

Like President Ronald Reagan, her political soulmate, Margaret Thatcher came to power at a desperate time in her country's history, when real leadership and bold ideas were most needed. And by applying conservative principles to the challenges she faced, she was able to achieve real and lasting success. Then, as today, she faced an extraordinary set of challenges and a chorus of voices saying her country's best days were behind it. Thatcher's successes are a comforting reminder of the power of a bold, conservative vision at work.

Very much the theme of the AngloSaxon conservatives joined by the alt-right across the Western world ... once again warmongering coming out of the Pentagon, White House and the National Security Council under leadership of neocon John Bolton.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the Trump administration is preparing to impose "the strongest sanctions in history" on Tehran after withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal earlier this month, and laid out a laundry list of demands for a new treaty, in his first major speech outlining Washington's strategy for curtailing the Islamic Republic's nuclear ambitions and its 'malign' regional behavior.

"We will apply unprecedented financial pressure on the Iranian regime," Pompeo told a crowd gathered at the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank based in the nation's capital.

Trump think tank openly advocates end of European Union

The Heritage Foundation is an independent right-wing conservative think tank in Washington. They developed "Project 2025," policy proposals that the government is now implementing. Nile Gardiner is the director of the Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom, the European branch of The Heritage Foundation.

The extreme course the Heritage Foundation has taken since this year has led to ideological debates within the institute: in recent weeks, approximately fifteen staff members have left the institute. Disagreements have centered on, among other things, the suspension of aid to Ukraine and President Trump's controversial tariff policy. Heritage director Kevin Roberts also initially refused to condemn statements by the antisemitic influencer Nick Fuentes far-right.

Christian Right the Undercurrent in American (Republican) Politics

How to Beat the Christian Right, Part I | 21 March 2005 |

Posted by Frederick Clarkson @BooMan

I was inspired, as I often am, to write this diary in response to the Christian Right itself. It happens that there is a small, but important Christian Right conference in Atlanta next month. It will not get the national attention that D. James Kennedy's recent "Reclaiming America" conference received. And it will probably not be as large, or draw very many people from beyond Atlanta. But it is important for other reasons. The conference sponsor, American Vision, is one of the leading hubs of theocratic education and activism in the United States. And I think a look at the conference agenda, tells us much about the theocratic movement, and how it seeks to take power. And because this is so, or at least that's how it appears to me, it offers us some insight into what we must do in response.

The conference titled Restore America Rally looks from this distance, like an ideological indoctrination seminar in Christian nationalism, and a pep rally for the political movement that emanates from it. Let's take a quick look at the featured speakers.

Americans United Blasts Congressional Leaders' Promise To Push Religious Right Agenda

In Closed-Door Briefings, Frist, DeLay Cement Ties With Religious Right On Schiavo Case, Judges, Abortion, Marriage, Church Politicking, Ethics Complaints

Top congressional leaders have promised to push the Religious Right agenda on judicial nominations, church politicking, abortion, marriage and the Terri Schiavo case, according to Americans United for Separation of Church and State.

Americans United today released audiotapes of closed-door addresses by Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist and House Majority Leader Tom DeLay to a Family Research Council (FRC) gathering March 17-18 at Washington, D.C.'s Willard Hotel. The pair talked about a range of political issues, using the Schiavo case as a springboard.

"Religious Right leaders are determined to run all of our lives, from the moment of conception through the end of life," said the Rev. Barry W. Lynn, Americans United executive director. "And top congressional leaders are conspiring behind closed doors in Washington to help them do it. It's appalling.

"Frist and DeLay have wrapped sanctimonious language around political posturing," said Lynn. "They are using Mrs. Schiavo's personal tragedy in Florida to burnish their credentials with an increasingly powerful component of the Republican Party. It's a sad, cynical political ploy."

SPLC Reports on Role of Pseudoscience in Anti-LGBTQ+ Efforts

Dec 12, 2023 - In a new report, the Southern Poverty Law Center's Intelligence Project investigates how white supremacists and the religious right employ old and new pseudoscience to justify the marginalization of the LGBTQ+ community, and how this is connected with the seeming proliferation of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation.

Trump's Religious Liberty Commission's Real Agenda

President Trump's so-called Religious Liberty Commission wasn't created to protect religious freedom for all Americans--it's about securing religious privilege for a select few by eroding the separation of church and state. Rooted in Christian Nationalist myths and rhetoric, the Commission pushes a warped version of religious freedom that privileges one specific version of Christianity above all other faiths and the nonreligious.

When Trump announced the creation of the Religious Liberty Commission during a White House National Day of Prayer ceremony on May 1, he dismissed the importance of the separation of church: "They say separation between church and state ... I said, 'All right, let's forget about that for one time..."

When viewed in conjunction with Trump's "Anti-Christian Bias Task Force", his renaming of the "White House Faith Office," [established by George W. Bush on 29 January  2001] and numerous executive orders and proposed policies that give preference to one narrow, conservative Christian viewpoint while rolling back the rights of LGBTQ+ people, women, religious and racial minorities, public school students, the nonreligious, and others, it's clear the Religious Liberty Commission is part of an administration-wide effort to advance Christian Nationalism - the dangerous belief that our laws and policies must reflect the lie that America is, and must remain, a Christian nation founded for its white Christian inhabitants.

Trump's Religious Liberty Commission & Project 2025

Trump is weaponizing "religious liberty" to reward the Christian Nationalist groups, billionaires and politicians backing his administration. This Shadow Network not only created Project 2025 - the playbook for dismantling our democracy that the Trump administration is implementing at record speed - but also handpicks U.S. Supreme Court justices and strategizes court cases for those justices to decide.

The Religious Liberty Commission is another tool to implement Project 2025's goals to impose religion in public schools and government institutions, roll back women' s rights, strip LGBTQ+ people of basic freedoms and create a theocratic state that favors white, cisgender, straight, evangelical Christian men over everyone else.
