Goli Ameri was nominated in November by President George W. Bush as a U.S. Representative to the 60th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.  The General Assembly meets in regular session during the months of September through December in New York.  Pending her confirmation by the Senate, Ms. Ameri is serving as a Senior Advisor to the U.S. Mission to the UN.

So, who the hell is Goli Ameri?

In a follow up to Grand Moff Texan's excellent recent diary, and this comment in it, I realized we don't really have to imagine what "we" would do in a comparable situation.

In a country that is home to over 33 million persons of Irish ancestery which is nine times the current population of Ireland, many of us can deeply relate to the Irish struggle for independence from their occupiers.
